A.J. van de Ven – President

A.J. van de Ven is the President of Calsense. He joined the company in 2005 as a software engineer, writing firmware for the ET2000 and ET2000e irrigation controllers.

Prior to taking the role of President, A.J. was extensively involved in all aspects of the business including engineering, sales, marketing, accounting, manufacturing, and product support. As one of the company’s principal engineers, he not only helped bring the ET2000e and CS3000 irrigation controllers to market, he also worked on the Command Center software and developed the WeatherSense service which provides real-time ET and rain information to any location throughout the United States.

Rick Capitanio – Vice President

Rick Capitanio is Vice President and Business Development Manager. He was employed by Calsense in 1988 as one of the first field service representatives and spent many years working with customers in the field, servicing the product and teaching end users how to be successful with Calsense technology. In 1994 Rick moved over to sales and covered the California, Nevada and Arizona markets. Prior to his current role, he managed the Calsense sales team covering various areas throughout the United States for 17-years starting in 2002.

Prior to Calsense, Rick spent several years as a Junior High School teacher in the Boston area and is originally from Connecticut. After receiving a B.S degree in Biology from Boston College, spent two and a half years in Ecuador, South America, educating farmers and indigenous people how to raise fresh-water fish for enhanced protein diets. Rick in addition holds a Masters Degree in Teaching from Boston University.

David Meehan – Chief Technical Expert

David Meehan oversees field operations throughout the United States as well as conducts additional duties in Corporate Administration.

David has an extensive background in Electronic Control Systems. He received his initial training as a proud member of the United States Air Force. After leaving the military in 1988, he then joined Hazeltine Corporation in Greenlawn, New York as a Calibration and Control Systems specialist. He started his career at Calsense in 1996, after relocating to San Diego with his family. He spent 15 years in the field as a Calsense Field Service Representative, working alongside Calsense customers in San Diego, Arizona, Utah, and Colorado before taking on the role as the Field Service Manager.
